Rob graduated from Georgia Tech in 1973 with a degree in Architecture. He worked for a private developer as a construction inspector before he was hired by the City of Atlanta’s Architecture Office. He then became the first Assistant Director of the newly created Mayor’s office of Cultural Affairs during the Maynard Jackson Administration. He served as Parks Director for four years, was appointed Director of the Water Department for 12 years, beginning in the Andy Young Administration, and including four years during Jackson’s third term.
Rob earned his MS in Public Policy from Georgia Tech in 1994, with an Environmental Major, while working in the Office of Environmental Affairs at Coca Cola. He was hired by Raytheon and worked on water, wastewater and water storage projects. The following eight years Rob worked in Hall County and managed the development of water and wastewater services, where he was in charge of permitting, design and construction of a raw water drinking reservoir on the Oconee River, and also served as the Director of Public Works managing County Road, Water and Wastewater development.
Rob returned to the City of Atlanta for two years during Shirley Franklin’s administration as Policy Advisory and Capital Projects Manager. In that role he managed the capital programs for Aviation and Watershed.
In 2005 Rob was hired by URS to manage Construction Program Management for the Southeast. Starting 2009, He led a 12-year $600 Million Dollar Capital Improvement Program for the Columbus Ohio Water Utility while working for AECOM.
During his career, Rob was national president of AMWA, and longtime member of AWWA and CMAA. He earned his CCM credentials while working in Ohio. He has served on the Board and Executive Committee for Center for Puppetry Arts, and long-time Board member for the Arts Festival of Atlanta. Rob’s career has involved all aspects of design, construction and operation of Aviation, Water, Wastewater, Parks, Education and Highway Programs.
